Smitty & Zoé's Engagement Session

Zoé and Smitty are the sweetest couple and it was delightful to celebrate their recent engagement with an early fall engagement session!

Zoé is my cousin and I have had the joy of watching her grow for her entire life. She was probably just a little seven year old the first time I invited her for a sleepover at our house, or the first time I picked her up to come house sit with me, or taken her to Fairbanks just for fun. We've had so many delightful memories together. And now she is getting married!!!! The first time I met Smitty, he was a little boy at a VBS program in Minto. Back then I had my mom's old point-and-shoot Canon tiny camera and I still have that little photo of little Smitty! And now he is marrying into the family!!! Zoé and Smitty are so special together and I'm really grateful God has brought them together!

We took these photos in early September, right as the colors were changing but still had a bit more green than you think of for fall photos. I am so grateful that they trusted me to take their photos! When we got to our first location I could tell right away that the light was NOT what I was hoping for. There were a couple of huge clouds blocking what little sun there should have been, and it was just flat. So we snapped a few photos since we had driven there, and then quickly chased the sun! We literally were just watching the sun out our window, then pulling over to see what good spots might be near there in the sun. We jumped out at several places, and finally I was happy at the most random spot - a tiny corner on the street of someone's yard. You'd never know from the photos, though!! From there, we headed to one more spot. At that location was one of the most exciting sessions I've ever had! Owls, moose, squirrels, oh my! At this point, the alpineglow was just perfect. I love the images we got together!

These two love to laugh together and I think we maybe laughed a good part of the session! It was SO funny when I told them to make a serious face how quickly they tried to be serious then burst into laughter. One time, I told them to make a silly face and they made the exact same one! They just had a great time being together and I loved my time with them.

You two, I'm wishing you a lifetime of love and celebrating you as you enter this new season! May the Lord bless you and keep you, may his face shine upon you, and give you peace. Oh, and may you always have an exit route if there's a moose on your path.
