A waterfall, autumn colors in Denali and a bridge near the river, Matthew's senior session covered it all!
Matthew wanted some photos at Dragonfly Creek along the Parks Highway and it was SO much fun to hike down there! At the start of every senior session, I talk with the senior about how it's my goal to get a good photo of them that THEY love, and a good photo of them that their MOM will love. Matthew smirked and said, "I don't have many opinions on much, so you've already won half the battle with me!" I'm sure he has one or two photos he really does like!
The Dragonfly Creek & Waterfall trial is not very well established, but is manageable enough and it was a beautiful fall day for a hike! We hiked down to the first waterfall, then scampered down to the next, then since we were close enough, hiked to where the creek spits out into the Nenana River. The fall colors were so stunning at each leg of the journey!! Matthew out hiked me and challenged me to stay on my toes - completing the entire hike from the valley floor by the river back to our cars, with a brief photo stop, in just 11 minutes!
After this stop at Dragonfly Creek, we traveled down river towards Healy and took pictures at this railroad bridge. I had shot at this location before, but not any photos like this and was so so pleased with how they turned out!
We chatted about Matthew's senior year and the upcoming hockey season. We talked about his brother Nicolas, who was a senior last year and did photos with me at fall time too. We talked about how Matthew is interested in becoming a carpenter and the steps he might take to get there. It was so lovely getting to know him better.
Matthew, I am cheering you on this senior year!! (And looking forward to snow photos soon!)
Thanks for reading!
