Danika was excited to capture photos during the perfect time of autumn in Denali National Park!
Danika has a delight to get to spend time with! We met up in Denali National Park at the Riley Creek day use picnic area and headed out together in search of fall colors! There's one particularly beautiful spot along the highway that has incredible tundra colors right now, and then we also looked for a few more that had a little less sun. Since we had a little bit of driving time, we really got to talk a lot about many things we had in common!
We enjoyed chatting about the Alaska Association of Student Governments (AASG) and high school student council - both things that I loved when I was in high school too! Danika is the high school student body president (as was I!) and ALSO the AASG executive board president (I was not, ha!)! She is doing some really incredible stuff and I know it is a lot of responsibility to wear each of those hats - much less both of them. We enjoyed chatting about her school schedule and her opportunity to have an internship at the Denali Borough Office as a part of her school day.
We also talked about how lucky we are to live near Denali and her family's lodge out at Kantishna. She spends her summers there and we both just feel so grateful to get to live in such a beautiful place that so many come to visit! Spending time with visitors coming to Alaska really helps you appreciate what you could easily take for granted!
Danika, I had the most delightful time getting to know you better! You are so kind, thoughtful, beautiful and determined. I am cheering you on through your senior year!!
